  • How is coaching different from therapy, consulting and mentoring?"
    Therapy: Therapy, at a high level, deals with relieving and/or healing pain, dysfunction and conflict within an individual or in relationships. Therapy generally deals with topics arising from the past which may impact an individual’s functioning in the present time. Whereas coaching is focused on self-initiated personal and/or professional growth in pursuit of actionable outcomes. Consulting: Consulting is a practice of providing expert and technical advice, often based on a diagnosis of a problem. The philosophy of coaching holds that you can identify the changes that you want to experience and define personalised strategies to achieve these changes. Mentoring: A mentor brings content expertise and provides wisdom and guidance based on their own experience. Mentors may use practices such as advising and coaching. Coaching rather encourages tapping into your own lived experience, wisdom and ability to define your own steps to success.
